As Lisa Gansky puts it, “A brand is a voice, a product is a souvenir.” This quote rings extremely true in our day and age – think about it – take a T-Shirt and slap a Nike or Supreme logo on it and it immediately becomes between five to fifty times more valuable. Even not having a brand has become a brand (see No Name Meats, for example). Here are three things to watch out for and be aware of with your brand:
You have about five seconds to make an impression on someone (CNBC). This could mean someone seeing your logo on social media, your storefront being spied as someone drives by, or a review on Google. Make sure to put your best foot forward – constantly. You never know when your next customer may come into contact with your brand!
To establish a strong brand – make sure it is consistent. This means simple things like having the same logo used on your website and social media page, as well as more in depth examples including using the same tone of voice across all of your platforms. Even tone of voice in video and editing makes a huge difference! Take the Facebook page for Target to the left- you’d find yourself pretty lost if you saw Target being represented by a gold T – wouldn’t you?
There are several methods of tracking business analytics, and that’s nothing new. Tracking Facebook likes, website views, and in-person sales is a cornerstone of modern businesses. However there are some things that just can’t be tracked in black and white. People talk about brands, usually very positively or very negatively – so make sure to be on the side of the former!
